PIC? Pah... AVR is the only true way to go!

The annoying thing is that the resistive winding could easily be
scaled to give a linear response irrespective of the shape of the
tank, but I see so many gauges which don't move at all for the first
hundred  miles, slowly drift down to the half way mark, and then slurp
the remaining fuel in no time at all. I'm sure it's a deliberate
policy.

The ford sender is not a good match for my fiat instruments; full is
full, but half full is actually ten litres remaining. At that level,
accelerating and braking can change the display by a quarter of the
range, as can stopping on a hill. Fill up at two hundred miles or half
full, whichever comes first! (and if the warning light comes on,
better hope it's downhill to the garage...)
