I'm not sure a "tandem" configuration would be possible on the saloon. The fan (bolted to the front of the radiator) sits pretty hard up against the back of the nosecone, and I don't think there's much scope for making more room by cutting.
There might be room if the new engine sits further back - which is possible, since the turbo is behind the engine instead of in front. But I won't know this until I trial-fit the engine. (maybe today, if the weather holds). It would certainly be a bit tight to get pipes around a large radiator to a smaller one anyway. My alternate solution was a Pug205 alloy radiator, wider but about the same height as the RST one. This would have left room for an intercooler above/below it. Unfortunately it seems that Pug owners are prepared to pay silly money for such things, way more than I am! Still watching another couple of alternatives though. =o) On Jul 8, 11:20 am, Russell Willcox <[email protected]> wrote: > Tony, > My son's friend fitted an uprated performance intercooler to his > Focus ST last weekend, the > intercooler sat directly in front of the water radiator and was about > two thirds the size of the > water radiator.
