I have been doing this quite a lot recently as my clutch cable went
and I've been trying out different tweaks to the clutch pedal and
different quadrants.

I would suggest removing the box. You can then get to the other side
of the big bolts.  Just be mindful that doing it this way you end up
having to bend the brake line as you pull the box away..

Remove the brake light switch first.. The only part of the job in the
footwell, but at least it can be done by leaning in rather than
getting in :)
