Have you looked at what the figure for the original donor (I guess Fiesta)
would be?
I suspect the H4 is slightly lighter (if at all?) so it would be a good
guide if the figure for the Fiesta is quoted.
The other approach may be to use the guidelines from towing forums (or the
legal max) if you know the weight of the H4.
Good luck.

Subject: [Quantum Owners] Re: H4 IVA Approval - Weights ?
Elliot,
I was tested on the IVA just under 1 year ago (on an xtreme), this
detail was not required on the plate at the time, but I recall I was
not required to give a weight as I had no towbar so this was marked as
N/A.
I don't have the application, but my report from IVA simply has NO in
the towbar area.
Perhaps it is not required, if no towbar exists ?

Hi All,
I am in the final stages of preparing my H4 for its IVA test and I
have a question which I am hoping someone might be able to answer
about vehicle weights.
Firstly, has anyone else had a full IVA test on a H4 ? If so have you
had any issues getting the approval ? I have a copy of the full IVA
manual and I think everything is covered but I am a bit concerned as I
can only find info on people having the older SVA test on a H4. My
father has spent the last 10-12 years building a H4 (not the quickest
build ever !!) but has now moved to Spain so I have purchased the H4
from him & completed it. So far getting everything ready for IVA has
been a right pain and more work than I ever expected !
I have been issued with a new 17 digit chassis number by DVLA as VOSA
would not accept the original shorter chassis number originally issued
with the H4 kit by Quantum. This means I now have to fit a new VIN
plate to the car but the requirements are now that it must include
manuf, chassis no, gross weight & axles weights. These are all okay
but the last one "maximum permitted laden mass for the combination
where the vehicle is used for towing" is causing me an issue.
There is nothing in the H4 build manual about this weight but I have
seen references to tow bars being available at one time so I guess
thre must have been a max towing weight detailled at somepoint. Does
anyone know what this weight might have been and more importantly does
anyone have any documentation from Quantum showing this please ?
Many thanks in advance, any suggestions or comments will be most
welcome. VOSA tell me I must have this weight on the VIN plate but I
would be interested to hear any comments on anyone elses experiences
of the IVA test even if not for a H4.
Cheers
Elliot
