This is mine with lowered XR2 springs

and it was not nice to drive on our third world roads that we all enjoy now
and it was slower because you could not drive it fast without grounding.
Yours looks fine to me but I agree that the damping needs uprating over
standard.

I've those tyre sizes with single damping adjustment Gaz and xr2 springs

it as I never normally carry such a full load so it's never really a
problem.

Personally i would prefer the a low ride height aesthetically, if i could
get away without any arch rubbing, it really isn't confidence inspiring!
After reading a few more threads on here i've came to the provisional
decision, do you think its ok on an early car?
Tyres: 195/45/r15
Rear suspension: Monroe sensathingy dampers (will they be ok without an
extension? If not would then, Avo adjustable xr2 dampers be suitable?).
Complete with XR2 springs.
I measured my ride height (ground to the lower edge of the arches) its
24.5 inches on the rear and 23.5 on the front, completely unloaded.
What's your initial thoughts on those?

Personally I like 'too low'. It looks right for me. With the extensions

stilts.
I'd think a front Anti roll bar would be more interesting than strut
braces.

Whose Chris.
So you car will have the higher spring and shock absorber mounts.
If somebody has put standard fiesta springs on the rear then it will
sit too low.
Check that the rear shock absorbers still have there Quantum extensions
screwed to the top as well.

There are all sorts of variations on the spring and shock specs on
the
Mk2 Fiesta.
But aftermarket parts tend to be specified as 1.1L and lower, 1.3L
and
1.4L and then the XR2 which are both harder shocks and slightly
lower.
2+2's often have rear shocks and/or springs from a 1.1 as the rear
end
is a lot lighter than the rear of a fiesta.
Watch out if you've an early 2+2 (before the low 100's) as they
have a
higher rear spring and shock mounting which mean special springs
and
Quantum made extensions on the shock absorbers.

Thanks Bob. When you refer to fiesta shocks/springs as opposed to
xr2
components, are the spring/shock specs the same for all types of
mk2
'normal' fiestas?
I believe it's a zetec block after checking. The oil filter is
about
10cm in from the bottom rear corner, on the LHS from the drivers
POV.
Can you recommend any online spares stores for the dipstick apart
from the obvious Ford?

Do you know if the bottom end is a 1.8 CVH , not that common as
it
was only
used on the Sierra and needs a few mods to fit FWD.
Or was it a 1.8 Zetec bottom end ?, often used with a CVH head to
make what
is commonly called a ZVH engine.
The best way to tell is to see where the oil filter is on the
back
of the engine.
If it's roughly in the middle of the block then it's a CVH, if
it's
down on
the bottom corner of the engine (actually mounted on the oil
pump)
then it's
a Zetec.
You need the dipstick and tube that matches whatever the block
is.

Hi there, I ve recently acquired my first Quantum 2+2 and my
first impressions are, wow! The licence plate is F229 UPB, if
by any chance one of you have owned it! However, after a few
Sunday drives a couple of niggles have appeared.
Firstly and quite worryingly, under harsh
acceleration/cornering, particularly around roundabouts (i can
t resist), the rear arches do rub against the outside of the
rear wheels. It s running 195/50/R15 tyres, which I don t
believe are the problem, but if any of you do think they are
the problem, please say. Other than that, could I have some
advice on what springs/shocks to replace the current ones with
to
avoid the problem?
Secondly, the engine is a 1.4cvh head with a 1.8 bottom end.
Well, this is what the guy i bought it off has told me! The
issue here is, the dipstick is from the 1.4 block so does not
even reach the oil with
a fresh 3.5L in. So my question is, will the 1.8 cvh dipstick
be
fit for purpose? Or, if any of you could point me in the right
direction to what dipstick would suit/someone in the know, it
d
be greatly appreciated.
FYI, the quantum was registered in 1992 and is based on a 1.4
mk2 of 1989. The now 1.8 engine has been gas flowed with a
kent
cam and scorpion exhaust with a TDLM carb. It s a beautiful
black, with some tidy 15 alloys. 0-60 has been timed at 7.8
Thanks for reading this far, any information will be greatly
appreciated.
