Having had to look into this to take grandchildren in our cars, there appear
to be two types: Those with ISO fittings and those that are retained by the
normal seat belts.

ISO fittings are installed in all new cars from whenever and consist of two
loops per seat secured firmly to the floor or rear seat assembly such that
they meet a "Pull Test" for the appropriate standard. The child seats have
a metal frame that extends back from under the seat, fitted with
self-locking clamps that engage with the afore mentioned loops. The seats
have their own belt assembly. The other type may also have their own belt
assembly but rely on having standard lap diagonal belts that meet all of the
legislative requirements to hold them in place.

Sorry but it is very unlikely that either the H4 or 2+2 would meet the
current requirements for rear seat belts for kit cars. I had to weld in a
50 mm square tube frame across the back with side A brackets on which to
provide top anchors for the rear seat belts on the Beauford before it would
pass IVA and even then there was some doubt whether this was sufficient from
the inspectors - the fact that it was strong enough to halt a double decker
bus seemed irrelevant!

A final comment on the ISO anchors - they do seem to be somewhat lacking in
strength compared to what is required elsewhere as above. Memory suggests
that they are only 8 mm dia rod bent to shape and welded to the existing
seat frame.

Hope this is of some help but sorry about the negative aspects.

Subject: [Quantum Owners] Child seats in the back of a 2+2

I have a guy interested in buying my 2+2, but he has two small children. At
the moment my car doesn't even have the lap belts fitted.

Has anyone fitted child seats in the back of a 2+2? If so how did you do it?
Do you have any photographs?

Regards

concern for other owners...

This is interesting as mine smells if I leave it in the garage with the tank
too full. I assumed it was the degraded rubber filler pipe, but it may be
the same thing.

Can you get the seals new? If so where from and what's the part number?
