Well, it looks like the advice posted on here a few weeks ago was
correct.

Having filled in the V5C and sent it off to Swansea to inform them of
the new fuel type, capacity and engine number, they've sent my V5C
back unmodified (still showing the old Q engine number). I even
included a photograph of the new engine number stamped into the
engine.

So I phoned them to ask why they didn't seem to have done anything,
only to be told that there's a separate letter in the post, asking for
more information about the engine swap, including a receipt from a
garage which carried out the work.
Failing that, confirmation on headed paper from a recognised
organisation such as the AA or RAC.

Obviously, since I did it myself I don't have a receipt, but maybe I
could put a headed letter together from my computer company.
I don't see why that would be any less valid than a letter from a
garage.

A less honest person might, at this point, say stuff it. I've filled
in the paperwork and told them about it; if they wish to ignore that
information then why should I fight the system? And pay extra road
tax for the privilege? And risk being stopped and having my tank
dipped?

Unfortunately that's not me. Let battle commence. Let slip the dogs
of bureaucracy.

But I'm certainly not going to ask them to correct the manufacturer
name!
