Does the fuel pump relay get burned contacts?  I can hear the pump
running correctly on turning on the ignition for about a second (no
different from when it was working OK), and it stops when I pull the
relevant fuse, so maybe Colin's suggestion of the internal pipe
failure sounds plausible. There's no leaking petrol anywhere, so I
think the external flexible hoses are OK.  I think I have a spare
relay, so will give that a go anyway.  I'll get a better chance to
work on it next week, so will report progress!
