Further to this, I've gone ahead and ordered some 1.8mm stainless
control cable and fittings and will have a go at making my own.
If anyone else has a similar problem, these people supply small
quantities of cable and fittings at very reasonable prices with no
minimum order....less than £10 for cable and fittings for both
doors....universal kit on Ebay £18 per door...
