I have seen and it is not uncommon for the escort fusebox to
short/carbon through to a main bus rail on the outside.
Disconnect the fan and meter the rail again. what do you get?
Does the fan work correctly from the bodged wire? is the fan free or
stiff?
I guess the anti overun is ign fed
The cable rewire maybe because the fuse box is shot and has been spliced
to get it working.
Relays dunno.

Sorry.....me again....got a bit of an odd wiring problem that I came
across whilst trying to fix the intermittent dip beam problem (still
not fixed that one)....I found a badly blown fuse (completely
desroyed) in the main box....fuse #6 which according to the Fiesta
manual is the rad fan...hard short to ground when checked with a meter
on the load side....anyway, it looks like the fan switch is connected
to non-standard Fiesta wiring which I traced back to a connection
spliced in to what I believe is the anti overrun valve on the back of
the carb which is in turn connected to a black lead from the standard
loom....however none of this appears to be short to ground so I'm
guessing fuse #6 might be connected to something else....
Anyone know offhand if this might be the case an if so, what.
Also, going back to the original low beam problem, does anyone know
where the three headlight relays might be located so I can trace the
wiring
