The locks should reach a 'dead' section at the end of each direction of travel (similar to a wiper motor which parks in it's usual one position) - In each of these positions there shouldn't be current through the windings. I guess that even though the mechanism now moves freely that it isn't reaching a park position and is still 'trying' to move?
Good luck.

Subject: [Quantum Owners] Alarm and CDL problems

The niggely little problems continue....I just replaced the burnt out
CDL actuators on my 2+2 after freeing off the mechanical door latches
which I assumed had caused the actuators to burn out and all was fine
CDL operated reliably off the alarm, door key lock and inside lock
button.
Couple of days later, couldn't unlock with alarm or key....when I
finally got in, it turns out that the actuators had burnt out a siezed
again....no mechanical problems this time.
Alarm would do nothing and couldn't start the engine as the
immobiliser wouldn't turn off....finally found and replaced a blown
fuse in the glovebox and the alarm is more or less back to normal
allthough it seems a bit inermittent.....before all this, there have
been a few times it's gone off for no apparent reason...alarm is a
Texalarm...does anyone know if they get unreliable when old and could
a fault explain the burnt out CDL motors....I'm tempted to just ditch
the alarm but am not sure how much of a job it'll be to put the wiring
back to "normal".....any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks
