Hi Mark,
I share your pain and have had to drill out the odd bleed nipple, however
provided you do not go too deep and hit the seat I have got several out using
this method.
You are right about the calipers being used on other cars but the escort is not
one of them. The Sierra is, as is the Orion and XR3I plus the P100 pickup.
Fords have been jolly nice and their calipers are identified by the slot in the
top and the XR2 has a Xmas tree type one.
Although they have a slightly smaller piston there is a type fitted to the Puma
(some not all) and these have a narrow slot and the pad has a curve that fits
into it.
The most important thing to look out for is the disc size and vented at 239mm.
Hope this helps, but the newer the cars are the more variation they had within
the same model.
Cheers

  Subject: [Quantum Owners] Brake Calipers

Does anyone know how interchangeable the brake calipers are between fords
round the mark 2 fiesta?
eg are the xr2 ones the same as an escort of a similar age? (My
car is a saloon built using a 1984 (B) xr2)
I'm having problems removing the bleed nipple on one of mine. In the process
of drilling out, so if I damage it want to know what I can look for.

  Thanks
  Mark
