Keith, Sounds like an interesting project - I know a certain Mr. Ward would be hugely excited if this had a V8 in the front too!
I remember hearing about a Saloon that was 4wd using Subaru Justy running gear and I think Darren Siepka was converting a 2+2 to either rwd or 4wd. Aside from those cars, it is worth talking to Eddie Ruskin at Quantum Kit Cars/Dynamic Mouldings, as he will be able to give plenty of advise too. I would also suggest sending an email to Jan Haines and ask in the next QM, [email protected] as you will reach more Owners.
