car itself looks like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/albertsbite/3958004199/ You need to cut off the three studs and their associated casting, leaving a flat-ish surface that can sit against the Quantum door. The casting is then bonded to the door using a sikaflex type adhesive (not just silicon). This sounds a little heath robinson, but mine stayed on for 10k miles and were solid as a rock..
