Cheers guys Gary the matrix was well packed and i don’t recall seeing stoppers in the ends, there have been one or 2 occasions last year (on a very long run) when i had the T installed where i could feel some warmth through the matrix, but day to day its as if its not even there, ill take another look when i swap the pies over, cheers ] Jim no worries, happens to the best of us, for a part of the car with little info in the Haynes manual we could do with archiving the info for future use?, maybe
Tony my plan is to back in time to 2010 and buy a 2+2 with one already fitted :) seriously though, the reservoir is the highest point by around 200mm then the inlet manifold then the matrix, the only deviation i made from spec is i routed the 16mm pump in front of the block rather than round the cam belt side, due to me using an old style pump where the 16mm inlet points toward the gearbox this actually offers a more straightforward route with less bends in it than curving it all the way back on itself, the hose run is shorter also yet still hooks up the same Thanks to all On Jan 7, 8:52 pm, TonyV <[email protected]> wrote: > I think I've spotted the problem - you've fitted a flux capacitor > instead of a heater marrix. =o) > > What are the relative heights of the various items? > Is the matrix (or any of the pipes to it) the highest point of the > system? > I'm thinking airlock, which isn't being pushed through because there's > an easier path for coolant through the other arm of the 'Y' > > Tony > > On 7 Jan, 20:10, jin <[email protected]> wrote: > > > > > heres a pic of how i have it plumbed in (top) and how i now believe it > > should be (bottom) > > >http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o192/jindal/2012%20quantum/IMG_201... > > > On Jan 7, 3:13 pm, jin <[email protected]> wrote: > > > > I'm intrigued too mate > > > > we shall see > > > > watch this space..... > > > > On Jan 7, 1:18 pm, "Jim Hearne" <[email protected]> wrote: > > > > > I'm intrigued as to what this problem is going to turn out to be. > > > > > As soon as one of the heater hoses was removed there should be water > > > > running > > > > out regardless of the direction or types of T, Y etc. > > > > When i think of all the strange arrangements of plumbing I've used in > > > > the > > > > past and had no problems, i can't believe it's just that. > > > > > You'd have to have the heater matrix completely block to stop any > > > > water, a > > > > bit or debris isn't going to do that. > > > > Unless it's been made wrong. > > > > > Jim > > > > > -----Original Message----- > > > > From: jin > > > > Sent: Monday, January 07, 2013 12:45 PM > > > > To: Quantum Owners Group > > > > Subject: [Quantum Owners] Re: 1.6 CVH Heater coolant pipes > > > > > cheers for the reply > > > > > Jim > > > > the inlet manifold is new and unblocked along with the hose union > > > > underneath, the matrix is new and so is the pump, the stat housing was > > > > removed and replaced a month ago when i swapped the stat for a warmer > > > > one, i know this flows fine as there is a steady stream from the top > > > > bleed hose back to the reservoir > > > > > ive looked more in depth at how ive got the Y piece plumed in now and > > > > also how i had the T plumed in before, and bearing in mind there are 2 > > > > flows in and 1 flow out from the Y i have got it so the manifold flows > > > > against the flow from the pump and heater, so ill re - jiggle this and > > > > at the same time when ive got the heater hoses off the matrix ill > > > > check that, although its new im thinking a bit of debris may have made > > > > its way in, but my hopes are pinned on repositioning the Y piece, as > > > > above post, ive got all hoses warm and the elbows i fitted just off > > > > the matrix are transparent, i can see there is no coolant in there at > > > > all but there is further down the hose as they are warm > > > > ill take a look and get back, could be a while though as ive got new > > > > struts going on at the mo > > > > > On Jan 7, 9:02 am, "Jim Hearne" <[email protected]> wrote: > > > > > Airlocks aren t normal on the Mk2 Fiesta/Quantum. > > > > > I ve always just filled them up and run the engine topping up the > > > > > reservoir if need be until the stat opens. > > > > > > I can t think why Jin would have no water at all at the heater, it > > > > > should > > > > > flow out under gravity from both pipes. > > > > > > I m sure you already checked Jin, or used new parts, but, are you sure > > > > > that the outlet from the inlet manifold and the outlet from the stat > > > > > housing are clear ? > > > > > They can corrode up. > > > > > > Jim > > > > > > From: Alan > > > > > Sent: Monday, January 07, 2013 12:41 AM > > > > > To: [email protected] > > > > > Subject: Re: [Quantum Owners] 1.6 CVH Heater coolant pipes > > > > > > If it comes up from the alternator yeup that's the electric autochoke > > > > > wire.
