The donor registration should be enough, assuming that part came from
the donor and not another car.
The Ford registration data base seems very good, I've never had a
problem with it.
But like all things it depends if the person at the parts counter knows
how to use it properly.
Like when they told me there was no such thing as a Mondeo 4x4, until
they put the registration number into the system.
While ideally you would take the part with you to get a replacement in
practice you often need the new part before you take the car apart to
replace it.

thanks jim, my main problem is that the engine was bought off the
shelf so im not quite sure what it was intended for. i have a
felling it was a 94 - 96 xr2i but not 100% sure. i may have to
visit my local ford dealer and see if they can verify the correct

You should still be able to get those parts from your local
Ford dealer.
If you know the registration number of the donor then it’s
easy, otherwise you may need to find the registration of a
correct make and model Fiesta so the part guy can look it up
on the computer.
If you can find a copy of Ford’s Microcat software, it’s what
the Ford dealers use to find parts.
You used to be able to buy copies on Ebay but i think they may
have been cracking down on it.
