Kudos to the solution from Keith; always nice when you have a lathe to hand.

If anyone wants a laugh at the five-cylinder kit car (does anyone know of 
another 5-cylinder kit?) then I'll be at Stoneleigh for the AGM on the 
Sunday, though the hard top will probably be on to partially conceal the 
fact that there is no interior!
