What is the diameter of the ball?  I may have some in my bits box.

Subject: Re: [Quantum Owners] H4 Gas struts

Many thanks for these most informative replies. The ball has in fact snapped
off, so (hopefully) it will prove possible once the rear section of body has
been removed. I imagine it may be wise to replace both sides while the car is
in bits and also treat any rust that there might be. Where will I find
replacement bolts with balls on (to quote a phrase!) ? What are they called?
Will they need to be Hi-tensile? Or would replacements in stainless steel be
adequate if available? Will I have to maybe have one made up?
Bill

To get at it you will need to remove the rear seats and the roll over bar if
you have one.
Then you should be reliable to remove the big fiberglass panel That goes right
round the rear of the tub, it's all eleven piece. One that's out You should be
reliable to see what's in in Original pictures. As Steve says, it is in a
bit of a recess in the chassis. If it's snapped off at the thread at right
angle drill adapter and a stub drill might just get in there. If you are lucky
it's just snapped off at the ball and the remnant will Still Have the hexagon
on. Jim
