I'm running the H4 at the moment...and I've started having troubles with
the instrument cluster. Last year I fitted a Lockwood white dial kit , only
to find that afterwards not all the instruments worked anymore. I have a
small collection of clusters, and eventually managed to collate a set that
worked, but the rev counter seems over damped. AND THEN...MOT time, and the
indicator warning light stops working. Quick fix at the garage, but a week
later it stops again. Frankly, I didn't bother fixing it again and when the
car came back on the road this year, it was working OK, until MOT time
again....so I swapped the whole cluster over for a "new" one (the water
temperature gauge was also a bit off colour) and the car passed the
MOT....without a Rev counter. I cannot believe that all my rev counters are
broken: some may be incompatible with my ECU, I suppose, but the latest is
in a cluster that is otherwise in lovely condition and is from a 1.6i 16v
Si, the same as the donor for my car and the same age: can anyone suggest
what I need to look at to sort this out?
All thoughts Greatly appreciated. I want to come to Stoneleigh on Monday
with everything working !!!
Thanks.
