Thanks Jim as I have gearbox problems on the summer turbo car I now have the winter to strip it out and discover what the damage is. I would be gutted to find I had thrown out an LSD with the box. Perhaps I should know after track daying the car for the last 5 years but all I can say is it seems to do the bizz...................until the bearings started to grumble. This same expert I was talking to also claims that a 5th injector and a lightened flywheel helps a lot. I think I have too many problems at the moment because I am still rebuilding my Porsche 944 engine and am amazed that it is a sports car because the engineering is more like a lorry.

On the Fiesta RST the LSD was an option. If you pull one of the driveshafts out you can see the difference easily. If the hole is nearly driveshaft size right the way through the diff and you can see a smaller shaft running across inside the hole it's a normal diff. If you can see a small round hole right the way through it's a Ford LSD. I've a feeling that the wheels do turn in the same direction with the Ford LSD if one is turned but it's long time since i did it.
