Hello there - I'm stuck, again (sorry!)

I've got an xr2 clocks cluster with a rev counter that's dead as a fish, so
I've fitted an aftermarket rev counter and bought a standard mk2 dashboard.
Everything seems to have gone fine except the Dashboard clock - it works fine
when the engine is on, but (as I feared may be the case) stops when you turn
off the engine. I'd be stunned if anyone knew anything - but does anyone have
any ideas? Do I need to run a dedicated feed off the battery? I was hoping
there'd be something that n the loom to help me out. On the bright side the car
interior is now everywhere and unattractive to thieves...
