I suggest you do what I do.........order the bits you need online and fit them yourself.
I only get a garage to do stuff like clutch/gearbox and engine internals. Anything that bolts onto the engine can be done without specialist tools. >From my quick search on diesel fuel pumps it looks like the pump is powered by >the timing belt? If Kitty is a 2+2 then I believe you can get access to that end of the engine by removing the inner wheel arch. The only reason I have a garage replace the timing belt on my saloon is because the lower cover is a complete sod to get off on the saloon as the body is in the way. I’ve had my Q for over 17 years using it every day, it is worth keeping these cars going using decent parts (not cheap crap) and just having to cope for a bit when it is off the road (and I live in the sticks!). Where in the country are you – I’m sure someone in the club can help you to fix it. What with these and the other jobs needing to be done before MOT the question is whether the work can be done economically? I realise that at the end of the day the decision is mine but I would prefer to keep Kitty. However I do need a car for family and work reasons. What are my most likely options? The question I was about to ask you is that is it worth keeping it or should I just let it go. If I do is it of any interest to anyone? It is used every day and has gotten me to work reliably and with an element of fun for nine years. Kitty is still a runner. Does anyone have any thoughts or sage advice for me ALL THE BEST Glyn Scoltock -- -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Quantum Owners Group" group.
