Yes indeed, as Jim has said I had a few electrical gremlins on my Porsche 944
and was horrified to find all the main wires just twisted together. I soldered
them correctly and avoided the possible fire.I never trust so called
professionals where cars are concerned.CheersJon

later removed. Always worth investigating any non original bits of a wiring
loom. I had an alarm fitted to a Fiesta in the early 90's, it had to be fitted
by the alarm company to get the certificate for the car insurance at the time.
I watched him fit it and when he had done the wiring i said, "it's ok, i'll put
the dash back together later". As soon as he had gone i removed all the Scotch
locked in wires and soldered them all. Finding radios and alarm systems
connected in with just twisted wires is very common.

Under the tape was a Really bad bodged join. Two bare wires had been put next
to each other and crimped/squashed together, then wrapped in gaffer tape. No
solder, no heatshink, no nothing, except hope.....! I have now replaced it
