Unfortunately not an easy one.
They are completely different engines.
The 1600 is a Zetec or Zetec-E, the 1400 is a Yamaha Zetec-S (no, i
don't know why Ford called everything Zetec).
For a start, the inlet and exhaust are on opposite sides of the engine,
the engine and gearbox mountings are in different places, completely
different engine management.
Gearbox and gearchange are different as well, also hydraulic clutch.
The only good news is i'm pretty sure it will fit in the engine bay as
it's physically smaller.
Apart from some Xtremes has anybody put a Zetec-S in a Quantum ?

I suppose this another question for Jim, perhaps? Would a black top
1400cc Zetec motor drop into the space left by a Silver top 1600cc
zetec in a straightforward manner? I'm running a standard 1600 Zetec
from a Mk 3 Si, and I'm interested in replacing it as suggested, if
it's within my abilities.
Thanks,
Bill
