Since you will loose some coolant changing the stat, take off the 2 hoses
that go to the heater and stick the garden hose on the heater pipes to flush
it out, do both pipes a couple of times.
Might help the heater.
Or, it could be a pattern heater matrix which don't seem to work as well.
Or the foam perished on the flaps inside the heater so there is always some
cold air getting past.

Okay. To be honest the heater never really got hot anyway in full blast.
