I've had a similar fault on my saloon with the car cutting out twice when pulling away at a roundabout. The first time I accidentally fixed it when making sure everything was tight, no fuel leaks etc, the second time I realised it was the ignition lead from coil to distributor had pulled out slightly due to the lead being a little short and a bit of movement in the engine mountings. In true DIY fashion it hasn't been fixed as now I know what it is and just push it back in.

Does a recon one come with an oil seal? Presumably a new one does? I have till the end of next month to get this car going, I don't want to go to Stoneleigh in my tin top Suzuki! > > Thanks again, Mike > > > > On Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:02:56 AM UTC, QM editor wrote: > > My 2+2 has a 1.6 CVH engine from an XR2. I've been told by a > Ford trained mechanic that the distributor in the Fiesta was unreliable and there were many failures even in cars less than three years old. Does anyone know of this? From one website I discovered that the correct distributor is a Bosch type 0 237 521 019 but I can't find one of those. The Haines manual says Bosch or Lucas but gives no part number.. Nearest I found was type 0 237 601 001, Ford part number 84SF 12100 FA. > > > > Has anyone had a distributor problem with this engine, and what type did they > use to replace it? It might be that the two types I've mentioned are effectively identical or there might be sufficient difference that while the one I can find will physically fit it won't work properly or even at all! Advice please so I can get going again! > > > > > Many thanks, Mike > > > > -- > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "Quantum Owners Group" group. > To post to this group, send email to [email protected] > To unsubscribe from this group, send email to > [email protected] > For more options, visit this group at > http://groups.google.com/group/quantumowners?hl=en > > IMPORTANT NOTE: All information presented herewith is provided on an "As Is" > basis, without warranty or the implication thereof.
