The traditional place is to T into the pipe to the distributor.
If you’ve still got the temperature controlled valve and the various little 
cylinders (to do with emissions) between the manifold and the distributor then 
make the T at the manifold side.

I always used to dump all that lot through and connect the distributor directly 
to the inlet manifold.

Or, if the vacuum controlled air filter has been removed then you could use the 
manifold outlet for that which hopefully is blanked off at the moment.

attachment point for vacuum pipe under bonnet for Vacuum gauge ?
