Hi Chris,
Both of those are actually original Ford.

The earth wires are bundled together and then spot (well, bar) welded 
together, you can see the lines across the conductors where they were 
squashed between the electrodes.

The thinner black wire on the main battery wire is a fusible link, it's 
special wire that is designed to blow before the main wire does if there is 
any shorts on an unfused circuit.  
It should have been inside red sleeving to stop any molten metal escaping 
if it does melt.
It would have been originally crimped to the red wire with a brass crimp so 
that one has been replaced or the cable shortened but it does look correct 
otherwise.
