HI Tony, I am sure some will disagree but I had the same and want the 2+2 to be on the road for another year before a major renovation. So I went on ebay and got some XR2 front springs and struts and fitted them. That was fine for the MOT and cheap. The ride height is a little higher but not a problem, in fact I have more ground clearance and a slightly softer ride, both of which are welcome.
I too am unsure what is the best for long term use, but if you need a quick fix use the standard items. The job of replacement is relatively quick and easy. KYB items springs and struts £90 and strut covers, top bearings and rubbers £43, if you need them. There is bound to be a custom expensive option which I will consider for the long term future.
