Hello,
I recently worked on a "Now & Next" live display for the Vancouver
International Film Centre in Canada. It was done using Quartz
Composer and a web-site blog for the dynamic content.
Not quite what you are aspiring to but similar in terms of some of
the details.
1) the movie titles and image URL's are in a RSS feed
2) QC patches were used to extract the content from the RSS feed and
get the image URL and download the images
3) there were movie clips resident on the hard drive of the Mac that
would play "idents" in between the movie information. These names
were fixed in the composition
4) the content would refresh dynamically
It is all projected on large screen display at the cinema. This was
production of Urban Visuals who I work with as a freelancer.
What you are proposing to is very doable in my experience. Using
javascript gives you the control to have things like multiple 'play
lists' and content that can be displayed at certain times.

Manjit

Hello all,
I'm in the process of developing a sigital signage solution with
some mac minis, and Quartz Composer caught my eye after an apple
store genius told me that's partially what they use to drive their
signage.
So my question is... are there any existing solutions that we might
be able to implement in a short period of time? Anyone know how the
apple store creates and schedules all their content?
Initially my solution is to render quicktime videos, and then
playlist them with iTunes in full screen. Then its easy enough to
use an alarm clock type software to trigger different playlists at
different times. I'm just looking for a more elegant solution, that
lets me add quicktime videos, but also still images, and maybe even
dynamic content. That way maybe we can skip a lot of the extra time
required to render out everything to quicktime videos.
Am I fishing in the wrong pond here?
Appreciate any help at all!
Best,
M. Robert Spryn
