While this may be slightly off-topic, I have a question about the business side of being a Quartz Composer programmer, and I can't think of a better place to ask about it.

Specifically, I have been hired to create some compositions for a night-club installation, and I'm trying to get a handle on what would be considered appropriate compensation for the work. It's looking like it'll end up being about 100 hours work and involve QC, javascript and some custom obj-c patches, including MIDI control and auto-response to audio.

I am wondering if any of the people on this thread would care to share their stories about how they monetize their skills, and what kind of hourly rates this kind of work commands. I'm also interested in figuring out what skills I could develop that would make me more valuable. And if any of you are in the San Francisco Bay area, I'd love to take you out to lunch and pick your brains.

Thanks in advance
Jack Hayward
