Hi

I mentioned this back in Nov 2007 - see thread 'Forward All Events not working in Interface Builder 3.0 (629)'. This is still true of IB 3.1 (649). I reported a bug in Nov. Filed as: rdar://5578805

The work around suggested by Troy is to use a tiger NIB. I installed/ use Xcode2.5 and use IB Version 2.5.6 (489) to initially create the NIB and the QCView, load a comp, then check 'Forward All Events'. Reopening that in 3.1 works as expected. Just don't touch that 'Forward All Events' checkbox - disabling and enabling that in 3.1 breaks the functionality.

Today, I have encountered a different problem with IB 2.5.6 (489):

The QCView in IB 2.5.6 didn't want to load compositions meaning I needed to create a v2 NIB in IB 3.1, include the QCView and load the comp. Then I open the NIB in v2 - click 'Forward All Events' and save. Then reopen in IB 3.1!

Also, xcode2.5 doesn't appear to ship with the QC palette - I had it installed on another machine so moved it over (ppc to intel) so that may be causing my new IB 2.5.6 problems.

I hope this helps.

Regards, Ian

Is there a bug with 'forward all events' when using a QC patch in interface builder?

I'm making a photoshop-like paint tool with QC, which works fine in QC itself. When I add the QC View into an application window, I can see the brush outline following the mouse within the app suggesting that mouse x+y work fine, but the mouse buttons and key presses aren't recognised. The 'forward all events' option seems to be the solution according to the documentation + tutorial, but it doesn't have any effect.

Am I doing it wrong, or is there a problem with it? If there is, what's the best way to work around it?

Thanks,

Chris Wood
