Followup for Chris --
Can you provide a couple sample compositions that demonstrate this
so I can check out what it's doing on Tiger?
The bug is easy to reproduce for us:
* On our PowerMac G5, 10.4.11
* Copy either spooky 0.1 or 0.2 to /Library/Graphics/Patches
* Open QC
* Composition 1:
Add a "image with string" patch
connect image to a billboard
also connect image to spooky send patch, give name "xyz"
run patch, verify "hello world" image is working
* Composition 2:
Add spooky receive patch
set name "xyz"
drag object output to billboard
run patch
Results: a blank white image of the correct size is delivered. If
you change the "image with string" patch image size, the image size in
patch #2 does change.
Does it only happen when sending between compositions, or does it
happen if you send the image to the same composition as well?
If we use the send/receive patches in the same QC composition, it
works fine.
When it doesn't work, I notice that the tooltip was showing the
buffer for the object was "0x0000-0x00000" perhaps showing that no
actual graphics buffer ram was being sent?

Hi all,
Trying to work around several problems at once, appreciate all the
help...
* First problem: We can't use multiple DV / Firewire inputs, so we
are using an old G5 with three Miglia Alchemy DVR cards.
* The Miglia cards don't work in 10.5, so we are in 10.4.11
* We want to have the GUI on one screen, and the playback on the 2nd
screen. Trying to avoid the "make a wide composition and stretch
it across two monitors" solution.
* I found the Spooky Patch which is a great solution:
http://kineme.net/QuartzComposerPatches/SpookyPatch/0.2
Sending an image with the patch works great in 10.5, but
unfortunately it doesn't seem to work in 10.4.11 -- all we get is a
blank white image. I tried both the 0.1 and 0.2 versions.
So I'm stuck again. Is there a way programatically in QC2
(10.4.11) to emulate the spooky patch? e.g. to have 2 QC renderers
that can share input/output image objects?
As always, thanks for all the suggestions. So close to solving
this, yet so far away!
:]
