The only Apple created composition that I'm aware of is the Security
screen saver, which is in /Developer/Examples/Quartz Composer/
Compositions/Security.qtz
It should be a good example because all the pieces are visual,
including a HUD and level bar.

here is a quick example of differencing + averaging, with smoothing
for motion detection, sans histogram. Maybe it will help someone :)

Ah, I hadnt read that thread, and it was not clear from the OPs
email that differencing was tried.
Another potential solution is to use area averaging, on the
difference, which will make histogram results REALLY stand out, and
possible to pick out changes that are large enough?
Typically this is a solution I use when I need to get basic data on
video, and dont want to use tracking/flow based approaches.

I gave that solution already :) -- the image differences aren't
large enough to reliably select which feed, apparently.
If it was as a WWDC, and Apple-created, it's unlikely that you'll
get your hands on it unless it gets bundled into a product. Looks
like you'll need to jump into custom plugin territory for this....
Sorry... maybe someone else has a different approach to this?
