Hi,

Smokris has a good approach to setting up devices: see here for the Behringer BCF2000, It works for me really well:

<http://softpixel.com/~smokris/widgets/quartzComposer/bcf2000/>

You do the setup like memo suggests / Smokris demos for your device ONCE then save the MIDI patches as sensibly named clips (select the patch then option-apple-C to create a clip) - the clips should retain all controller / midi device information for later re-use, and appear in the Patch Creator.

The 'learn controller to observe' button (in Leopard) in the MIDI Controllers Receiver is handy in this initial set-up. If your device is installed and visible to the system wide 'Audio MIDI Setup', it should appear as a 'midi source' in the MIDI Sources pull-down of the MIDI Controller Receiver patch:

(1) Select your device as a source (or select 'all')
(2) Click 'Learn Controller to Observe'
(3) press a button, slide a slider or turn a knob. If all goes well, QC should automatically map the controller you touched to the appropriate control number in the interface and create an output port for you.

I hope this helps.

cheers, Ian

Just use the midi controller or midi notes receiver, should be quite straightforward...
