   Thank you for that patch,

   It looks like it is going to solve my problem, however, I can't get
compositions dropped into keynote to use patches downloaded separately (like
the kineme patches .plugin files) – when I drop the file into Keynote those
patches just seem not to work.

   – maybe it's related to where I placed those .plugin files? I placed them
at /Library/Graphics/Quartz Composer Patches
