Yes, in time we hope that virtual patches will entirely replace clips, although all your old clips will continue to work if placed in the correct path.
This seems a shame, as I found them very useful. Is there some way to convert a Virtual Patch to a simple Macro, that can be edited? If not, there should be. That way, the same compositions could be used as Virtual Patches, and also edited as needed, in the same way as an instance of a Clip..
