Stretch = resize to fit the dimensions you specify. It'll break the
aspect ratio, so your circle ends up squished.
Fit = resize so that the image fits into the dimensions you specify
without changing the aspect ratio. I.e. for your 100x100 circle, if
you specify 200 x 50, it will resize to 50x50 so it fits inside these
dimensions.
Fill = resize so it fills the specified dimensions without changing
the aspect ratio. If you ask for 200x50, it'll resize to 200x200 so it
fills the space without squishing.

Also watch the size modes for the billboard! In the settings panel you
can set it in various ways - the default is 'auto height', meaning you
set the width (2 = screen width) and the height depends on the image
size. So for your 100x100 square image, a width of 2 means losing the
top and bottom (unless you have a square window).

Auto width lets you limit the height but you have the same issue with
cropping at the sides. Custom lets you specify width + height but you
must be careful not to break the aspect ratio, and real size just
draws it at actual pixel size (aspect works fine, but you lose control
of image size / cropping etc).

Unfortunately, you really have to handle this stuff yourself most of
the time. Choosing the settings wisely helps, but you still have to
know what you want and how to get there..
