Of note:

Quartz Crystal has just released a new version that has added some new
features that intercept live action (mouse/trackball, etc) while
manipulating the composition in the viewer, and allow for previewing what
you recorded before render. On top of that, you can "layer" these
interactions (ala overdub/sound on sound type methods), or do total
re-records of sections.

So, the game has slightly changed a bit even since this thread started :).

There's some other really nice bells and whistles that have been added as
well.
