@george: The OpenGL Info patch reports the Radeon HD 4850 as Render Device with 8 texture units and Max Texture Size of 8192. So QC definitely sees the gpu. It just does not choose to use it for OpenCL.
@vade: By "image buffer support" do you mean OpenGL context sharing? I get the sense that the AMD 4xxx series has some design limitations in local data sharing. OpenCL / Open GL versions above the OpenCL 1.0 and OpenGL 3.3 supposedly supported by OS X 10.6 and Radeon 4850 seem to focus a good deal on better OpenCL / OpenGL integration. Maybe Quartz Composer wants some of that sharing goodness that was only supported by extensions and specific cards back in the SL birthing timeframe? I guess it is pretty clear that the Radeon HD 4850 is does not support OpenCL acceleration in the context of SL and Quartz Composer. I just wish I could see the Apple document(s) that told me so, since what I have seen "suggests" support. ________________________________ From: George Toledo <gtole...@gmail.com> To: Paul Harrison <harrisonpa...@yahoo.com> Cc: "quartzcomposer-dev@lists.apple.com" <quartzcomposer-dev@lists.apple.com> Sent: Saturday, July 23, 2011 11:50 PM Subject: Re: OpenCL Supported Cards Out of curiosity, if you place the OpenGL info patch (not CL), do you have any texture units available? Does the gpu show up there either?
