I've been using KDE as long as it was around, starting with FreeBSD and I never had it crashing on me unless I was using broken hardware. I can't say much about Qubes yet; I have it on a number of machines for 9 months now but KDE never crashed. And I don't care for the speed – I need a certain result (i. e. a working environment suited to my needs); geting nothing done three times as fast doesn't sole my problems (and I don't believe these numbers anyway as I'm having both on the same machine).
