You're right, I've missed this link and focused on the latter one.

The private keys are stored in a VM that is (or at least should be) 
disconnected from Internet and other potential sources of complex untrusted 
input that could compromise it. So, it should be more resistant so some 
exploits if some parts of code are vulnerable.

I guess we aren't discussing anything that has been substantially modified 
since the first release of Qubes. (But I've started using Qubes at R3-RC1, so I 
am not sure.) The main reason for update is security. Version older than R3.2 
do not receive any security updates from the Qubes team.

I haven't noticed that, but it has worked for me well. And I neither remember 
nor can find massive Grub-related issues in this mailing list, So, I guess it
