To reproduce this error:

1)Create a fonds description with the creation date 2000
2)Create a series level description with the creation date 2001, and make
it a child of the fonds
3)Create an item level description with the creation date 2001, and make it
a child of the fonds
4)Edit the fonds description and set the creation end date to 2002 (a
create date range of 2000 - 2002)
Resulting error:

When the fonds creation date is 2000 (no range), the series shows no
validation warning (it should), and the item shows a date validation
warning (correct).
When the fonds creation date is set to 2000 - 2002, the series and item
show a date validation warning (they shouldn't).
Expected result:
