I have a recollection that Dave says that the clock needs to be within 60-odd years of the correct date, and this was after he did some work to expand this from the previous limit of 30-odd years.
I forget the exact number offhand. It is possible there is an arithmetic overflow or signed/unsigned problem somewhere. I'd love to see this documented somewhere easy to find and also get a test case going.
