The actual log files depend on the exact variant of Unix and are configurable. By default, some syslog events are not logged at all, and some may go to other files.

However, this is all Unix Junior System Administration 101, and the existence of syslogd ought to be well known to anyone trying to install ntpd on a Unix-like system.
