Please keep in mind that the NTP version string is protocol_version.major.minor(p=incremental) and _not_ the major.minor.incremental that most people expect. So when you compare your version and the current stable release you're looking at: NTP-4 v2.4.8 vs NTP-4 v2.6.5 The ChangeLog at http://archive.ntp.org/ntp4/ChangeLog-stable will reveal the magnitude of the changes between these two versions.
