Since the header file will bypass the package management the file should
be copied to /usr/local/include:
cp pps-tools/timepps.h /usr/local/include/

Many thanks for your input, Martin, I have saved this away.
One extra problem here is that this isn't an Intel PC, but Arm61, so the
chance of finding a pre-compiled package is a little less.
Yes, I know.
I just wantod to point out what you have to keep in mind if you are
going to build your own full-featured binaries, and how package
management systems take care of this.
Basically this doesn't make a difference for Intel, Arm, or whatever.
