I have compiled and installed NTP on a number of Raspberry Pi Linux
systems, variants of Debian Wheezy, but on one I see that when I run:

   $ sudo make install

I get the executables files in two different directories:

   ntpdc ntpq & ntptrace => /usr/local/bin

   ntpd ntpdate ntp-keygen ntptime & ntp-wait => /usr/local/sbin

I was expecting all the executables to be in /usr/local/bin/. Why might
this be? Linux is not well known to me.

Thanks to Trevor, Rob and Steve for your answers. Whilst it may be trivial for those familiar with the OS, it's not trivial for me as I wouldn't know the search terms to look for. I appreciate the time for your responses. This was with Linux 3.6.11

What I did find very confusing was that on another Raspberry Pi, running Linux 3.2.27, when using make install /all/ the ntp* binaries are put into /usr/local/bin/, and this inconsistent behaviour confused me.

BTW: we have found better performance on the RPi with kernel-mode PPS when using the OS configuration changes mentioned by Rob Windgassen in NTP Bug 2314.
