It's a steep road to Sundance for an independent filmmaker. No surprise,
then, that this year two films nominated for awards at the 2005 Sundance
Film Festival took a helpful detour through The Edit Center, a unique
film editing school in New York where students learn to edit by cutting
actual footage from independent feature films--exclusively on Final Cut
Pro.

Two weeks ago the Cassiny-Huygens probe completed its journey, landing
some 4 billion kilometers away from Earth on Titan, the major moon of
Saturn, to study the origins of life and possibly forms of

In 19th-century Europe, a young man by the name of "Victor" (voiced by
Johnny Depp, "Finding Neverland") travels, accompanied by a friend, back
to his village to marry his fianc�e, Victoria (voiced by Emily Watson,
"The Life and Death of Peter Sellers").
When the duo stop to rest in the woods, Victor jokingly slips Victoria's
wedding band onto a finger-shaped stick protruding from the ground and
practices his wedding vows. Oddly enough, the stick is actually the
rotting finger of a murdered girl (voiced by Helena Bonham-Carter, "Big
Fish"), who returns from the dead to proclaim herself as Victor's
lawfully-wedded wife.
Poor Victor. Will this underworld bride keep him from his one true love?
Tim Burton's animated film "Corpse Bride" arrives in theaters Fall 2005.
