1. Making the Universe Shake
.............................

We all go to the movies to see stars. But the audience for the IMAX film
"Hubble: Galaxies Across Space and Time" gets to see the universe.

Produced by the Office of Public Outreach at the Space Telescope Science
Institute (STScI)--the organization responsible for conducting and
coordinating the science operations of the Hubble Space Telescope--this
film blends Hubble's high-resolution images of deep space with video
animation techniques to take armchair astronauts on a
10-billion-light-year trip in only three minutes.

The goals of the STScI team were to create a short film digitally and
in-house on a limited budget and to offer the finished product to
large-format theaters as a public service. But to make this plan a
reality, the team had to devise a way to take the large images and
present them in a way that would preserve their original resolution.
Only IMAX theaters, with screens literally the size of a building, could
support this.

Find out how Shake helped STScI overcome production roadblocks. Watch
"Hubble: Galaxies Across Space and Time" now, too.

In 1993, a group of childhood friends in Omaha, Nebraska, released 100
copies of a cassette tape by a 13 year-old singer-songwriter/little
brother, Conor Oberst. Two years later, the name Saddle Creek Records
was etched in vinyl. What began as a collective local music scene
would soon gain attention as a center of indie music in America.

"Spend an Evening with Saddle Creek" tells the story of the record label
as told by the people who made it happen. With extensive interviews,
rare performances and archival footage, the film gives viewers an oral
and visual history of how the combination of talent, dedication and
collaboration launched bands like Bright Eyes, Cursive and the Faint
into the national eye and has fostered a close-knit family of artists
that continues to inspire each other and their fans.

but the Dead's keyboard player, Brent Mydland, had recently died. Rather
than cancel the gig, the Garcia Band stepped in to deliver one of its
most heartfelt performances.

"The Jerry Garcia Band Live at Shoreline" DVD features bonus material,
including interviews with Robert Hunter and band members, a
mini-documentary and photo galleries. Visit the iTunes Music Store to
